- The G5 (Omega) was the first of the fifth generation PowerPC-based machine. Apple used an IBM designed processor which shipped with four different speeds: 1.6, 1.8, dual 1.8 and dual 2.0. There were three configurations for the PowerMac G5. The 1.6 GHz model, with an 80 GB hard drive and 256 MB of RAM, sold for $1999.
